    Dear MASHMM Members and Community,

As my term as President of MASHMM comes to a close, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve this chapter over the past two years. Leading this organization has been both meaningful and humbling, and I am deeply thankful for the trust placed in me throughout this term.

It has been a privilege to serve alongside a dedicated Board of Directors whose leadership, insight, and commitment supported the chapter’s work and priorities. Serving in a volunteer leadership role requires time, care, and balance, and I am grateful to each board member who contributed their perspective and energy in support of the MASHMM. The progress achieved during this term reflects the collective effort of individuals who stepped forward to lead, support, and engage thoughtfully.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to our provider and vendor members, whose engagement and partnership continue to be central to MASHMM’s strength. Your willingness to share expertise, participate in dialogue, and contribute to the broader mission of the chapter plays a vital role in fostering connection, learning, and professional growth across our community. The diversity of experience and perspective within our membership remains one of the chapter’s greatest assets.

Throughout this term, the chapter continued to strengthen relationships, encourage meaningful collaboration, and contribute to the broader healthcare landscape. This work reflects a shared commitment to progress, service, and thoughtful engagement, and it has been rewarding to witness the impact created through collective effort.

As the chapter moves forward, I congratulate our incoming President and board leadership and look forward to their continued efforts to lead, inspire, and strengthen the chapter’s impact in the community.

Thank you to everyone who supported the chapter through participation, partnership, and engagement during my term. It has truly been an honor to serve as President of MASHMM, and I remain grateful for the relationships, experiences, and shared purpose that defined this time.

    With gratitude,

    Shermaine Pollard

    President, MASHMM

The Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Materials Management (MASHMM) is hosting an in-depth session titled “Tariffs and Supply Chain Resilience” on November 18, 2025, at MedStar Harbor Hospital, bringing together healthcare supply chain leaders and vendors to explore how evolving U.S. tariff policies are reshaping procurement and pricing strategies across the industry.

    Why This Event Matters

In today’s global healthcare marketplace, tariffs have become more than just a trade issue—they are a key driver of cost, access, and operational planning. Hospitals and health systems face increasing pressure to maintain stable supply chains while managing the financial ripple effects of trade policy shifts.

“Tariffs influence every link in the supply chain—from manufacturing and sourcing to budgeting and purchasing decisions,” said a MASHMM spokesperson. “This event is about helping our members understand those connections and prepare their organizations for what’s next.”

Featured Speaker: Mark Hendrickson, Premier Inc.

The session will feature Mark Hendrickson, Director of Supply Chain Policy at Premier Inc., who will share insight into current tariff developments and their direct impact on medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare imports. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how these changes affect product availability and cost, and how organizations can adapt strategically.

    Turning Policy Insight into Action

This program goes beyond education—it’s a platform for collaboration and modernization. Discussion topics will include:

    • The financial and operational effects of shifting tariff policies

    • Strategies for data-driven sourcing and capital planning

    • Building resilience through visibility, governance, and vendor alignment

    • Policy advocacy and its role in sustainable healthcare supply chains

The event reflects MASHMM’s renewed commitment to modernization, innovation, and community, aligning its programming with the realities today’s supply chain leaders face.
