The Panel

Jennifer is a dedicated healthcare professional with nearly three decades of experience in nursing and healthcare administration.  Throughout her extensive career, Jennifer has traversed diverse roles in Adult Critical Care, Trauma, Women’s Health, and Perioperative Services. Her invaluable experience and commitment to quality care led her to a pivotal moment in her career while serving as an Ambulatory Surgery Center supervisor. Here, she demonstrated her keen eye for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, identifying a strategic product change that resulted in significant savings.

Currently serving as the Corporate Director, Value Analysis at LifeBridge Health, Jennifer oversees a multidisciplinary team across the health system. She has consistently delivered substantial savings through her strategic approach, implementing standardization, introducing new products, and seizing conversion opportunities. Jennifer takes immense pride in her ability to bridge the gap between clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, fostering consensus through evidence-based best practices. Her leadership ensures the alignment of strategic goals, making her a vital asset to her organization.

Nathan Barbo, FACHE serves as the Senior Vice President of Operations at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.  In this role, he provides executive leadership across clinical, operational and administrative departments.  Based at the medical center in Baltimore, Nathan also works with colleagues across the MedStar Health system to integrate service lines and operations seamlessly for better patient care. 

Prior to joining MedStar Franklin Square, Nathan was the Vice President of Operations at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and previously served as the Director of Operations at Digestive Disease Associates.  He began his career at MedStar Harbor Hospital as a Summer Intern, where he also completed an Administrative Fellowship.

 An alumnus of the University of North Carolina, Nathan earned a Masters of Healthcare Administration, with a concentration in Finance.  His undergraduate degree is in Healthcare Management from the Ohio State University, where he also studied Economics.  Nathan is a board-certified Fellow in Healthcare Administration by the American College of Healthcare Executives, whose Maryland chapter awarded him the “Early Careerist” award in 2018.

Jennifer joined Owens & Minor in October 2023 as IDN director.  She is the business partner for several strategic corporate accounts.  Jen is a supply chain executive leader with 28 years of diverse healthcare supply chain experience, including two years working for a GPO.

Before joining Owens & Minor, she was Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing for UPMC, focusing on clinical capital and major construction projects.  In addition to sourcing, Jennifer held multiple leadership positions at UPMC, including Senior Director, SCM Operation, and Project Management, where she led a team responsible for integrating mergers and acquisitions for the supply chain as UPMC grew from 15 hospitals to 40 systems IDN.

Jennifer brings a unique perspective to Owens and Minor transitioning from a healthcare provider to a supplier organization. She worked with Owens & Minor in various capacities for the last twenty years. Her integration project work included implementing Pandac, QSight, and both LUM and bulk distribution and transitioning distribution services from competitors to Owens & Minor distribution.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in supply chain management, production planning, and inventory control from Bowling Green State University. Outside work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, including her husband, three sons, and a new grandson. She enjoys gardening and cheering for the Pittsburgh Penguins and her son’s hockey teams.

Please join us on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. for our MASHMM Virtual Meeting presented by Molly Zmuda of Vizient, Inc. and Christina Boylston of GHX.

Molly represents Vizient in the Healthcare Industry Resilience Collaborative (HIRC) and is advancing an emerging industry coalition to decarbonize the value chain. She serves on the Board of the American Medical Manufacturers Association and the Next Generation Committee of the Board of the UNC-Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Molly leads a team that advances strategic alignment of spend management services with broader provider and supplier strategies to increase the reliability, quality, affordability and accessibility of care for healthier communities. Her team develops and executes programs with a focus on environmental sustainability, supply assurance, price assurance and insights/intelligence. Molly’s healthcare leadership experience includes spend management, clinical program development, service line administration and integrated operations for two large health systems on the east coast. During her time with Vizient, Molly has led spend aggregation delivery teams, national supply chain Member Networks and strategic transformation workstreams.

In Vizient Member Networks, Molly was previously responsible for connecting more than 320 provider organizations, including system-level executives and clinical leaders in supply chain and Vizient's Large Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) Supply Network (LISN), representing the nation's largest health systems to share leading practices and data, and develop high-value solutions.

In the provider sector, Molly led orthopedic and surgical services as well as clinical program development of a clinically-integrated network and enterprise-wide service line, advancing full-continuum trauma/injury care across 900+ locations with a focus on population health. Her efforts inspired a North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services research initiative. Molly also developed trauma outreach strategies, including an mTBI feature during Super Bowl XLVII.
